原作江户川乱步的《湖畔亭事件》。拉里·大卫因为试图拍摄一部《法特瓦》题材的舞台剧而被首席穆夫提下达了真正的“法特瓦”追杀令，而为了摆脱法特瓦，他则必须找到林-曼努尔·米兰达来主演舞台剧？。Howard Tyler (Frank Lovejoy) is a family man, living in California, who can't seem to get by financially. He meets up with a small-time, but charismatic, hood Jerry Slocum (Lloyd Bridges). Soon, Slocum convinces Tyler to participate in gas station robberies to get by. Later, they kidnap a wealthy man in hopes of getting a huge ransom. Things go wrong when the man is murdered by...。
